- Should I look at anything else before buying a Volquartsen - Snipers Hide
Depending on which Volquartsen you're looking at, it's probably as good as anything else My Black Mamba is great for Steel Challenge, but doesn't seem to do anything special or any better than my MK III 22 45 LITE or for that matter my 422's One of these days, I'll pick up a threaded barrel for my 41's, but until then I'll roll with the others

This is a follow up of my last post which was a review of the Ruger PC Carbine I recently got the Volquartsen TG9 which turns the gun in a somewhat usable back PCC to a legit contender for a primary PCC I recently ran it at Area 8 and got 2nd in PCC - which was entirely based on my slow, haphazard, and incoherent shooting

I did have a magazine spring break last week in the middle of a match which was really strange It was one of the original Volquartsen magazines I got the Tandemkross green springs and red extra round followers in my Ruger mags and just bought a couple more to put in the mags the Volquartsen shipped with Blazer 22lr (Crazy smokey)

Wouldn't consider same, but the 22lr uppers on 1911 or 2011 lowers would do the job nicely, just likely too heavy for my wife Volquartsen is stuck with most parts in the Ruger lower, but I wouldn't expect something like the Bolt Stop Pin to ever fail OTOH, how many put 40K rounds through these guns (competition folks for sure)

Put the Tandemkross lower on two different Ruger Mk 4 uppers and on the Volquartsen Mamba X upper and all looks good Installing several different Ruger Mk 4 bolts (two are stock and one has Volquartsen internals) all guns run great Add the Volquartsen Competition bolt to the mix and the hammer will not fall

I bought a sight removal tool, punches, and a hammer specifically to replace the stock sights with the Volquartsen sights and after a lot of pain and misery I took it to my local gunsmiths who swapped them out in less than 10 minutes

Re: Volquartsen rifles I have one in 17HMR as well It shoots at least as well as any of the other 17HMR's I have As far as 22's go; I would go with a full blown Kidd If for no other reason, just to have their trigger group I have two of their two stage triggers and they are incredible They turn out some great 10 22's!

Hi, I had a Scorpion that always ran and sold it for a Ruger 22 45 Light all souped up with Tandemkross and Volquartsen parts Gun was never reliable Two local gunsmiths and Volquartsen were unable to make it run reliably Trigger pull, also, was never great Purchased a used Scorpion, runs all day long with a great trigger

Volquartsen's 22 upper are solid, accurate shooters I think their comps are a waste of time Their idea is to have weight hanging off the front to minimize muzzle rise It works, but slows transitions That being said, I see lots of Mambas, Scorpions and LLV uppers of various frames at every SCSA match

i have not heard good things about using a can on the end of a tensioned barrel and a quick scan of the website for volquartsen shows it is a carbon fiber tensioned barrel i would bet hanging a weight off the end of what is a lightweight barrel is what is actually screwing with your groups 7 ozs of the suppressor hanging on the end of your 21 oz barrel, adds 30% more weight i think thats
