- Yay or Paru ? : r archlinux - Reddit
Paru is newer and has (IMO) saner defaults For example, by default, yay does not show you the PKGBUILD to review, while Paru does (or it shows you the diff from the current version) This is important because PKGBUILDs are shell scripts and anyone could upload one (and, con
- 250 Days of Paru : r archlinux - Reddit
Paru is actually made up of several libraries which are in use in by a handful of other projects This includes official rust libalpm bindings for those who want to hack around with libalpm There's also stuff for reading pacman conf, srcinfo files, querying the AUR, downloading pkgbuilds, and dependency solving
- Yay or Paru!!?? : r archlinux - Reddit
Also for the arch Linux the AUR feels like blessing But as for the helpers to use for the AUR I am confused a bit as I have used yay and currently I am using paru So what is the standard if there is any which one should I use is it yay or paru I would also like to know some technical details or references about both of them
- Which AUR helper is better - yay or paru? : r archlinux - Reddit
Paru is noticeably faster at downloading and installing packages (holding constant the network, load, and IO conditions) I imagine this has to do with the fact that it’s written in Rust whereas yay is written in Go
- paru is a great AUR helper : r archlinux - Reddit
It's really a personal preference It sounds like yay will not be getting new features as the main developer is now developing paru but yay is still supported For whatever it's worth, yay is written in golang whereas paru is in Rust
- Paru cache folder is getting bigger : r archlinux - Reddit
Paru cache folder is getting bigger SUPPORT I have been using paru for about four months and now I noticed that his cache folder is getting bigger than expected (23GB), I only update the system biweekly and have like two or three AUR packages installed
- Can paru replace pacman? : r archlinux - Reddit
Running paru -Syu will update everything installed from repositories and the AUR This might seem like a great idea at it's core but if you have a couple of hours to kill, go ahead Paru will have to recompile the stuff it installed from the AUR EVERYTHING! Again, this may seem like a great idea but it's really unnecessary
- paru v1. 0. 0 and stepping away from yay : r archlinux - Reddit
Last week I announced my new AUR helper paru Since then a lot of testing has gone in and a lot of bugs fixed by me and help from contributors So I am now announcing paru v1 0 0 and consider it stable I'd also like to mention I no longer plan to work on yay I've been co-developing yay with jguer over the past 3 years
- Just installed paru so I can use the AUR. Will paru update . . . - Reddit
Paru does update both AUR and regular arch packages by default, but there's a setting in the confjg file for that Look at the confjg file in etc paru I think it was there Personally I've disabled the option of paru to update all apps and just left it so the AUR ones
- Finally installed Paru : r archlinux - Reddit
Since I'm not a programmer I installed Paru at the advice of the community I don't know what I was doing with my life before paru It's damned near perfect, and easy enough to remove a package and clean the system if something breaks I know security and reliability are concerns, but I don't feel it's a massive issue So happy to have Paru
