So I have a Yamaha Revstar RS620 (seriously underrated guitars!) and I want to experiment with Lollar Imperials Specifically, I was thinking a Low Wind in the neck with a regular in the bridge I have swapped out single coils but never humbuckers, and when I was getting ready to place the order for the Lollars, I have the choice between

Disclaimer: I’m a Yamaha artist The Revstar’s are criminally underrated I think the catch is: 1) Yamaha suffers from a student beginner guitar stigma 2) The Revstars body shape might not be your cup of tea The V1’s had a smaller body size that made them (subconsciously I believe) look a little “different”

The two I came across that are drop-in were Gotoh and Grover That said, my Revstar's hardware is satin chrome or whatever it's called (the dulled silver) and I couldn't find any drop-ins that matched that aesthetic There's a Yamaha musicians forum with an electric guitar section, a lot of people talk about popular revstar mods there

Stock, Yamaha chose to put 250K push pull pots on the dry switch That's fine if you're taking out the bass and brightening up with the switch engaged, but not great for the stock full humbucker position It's a heavy piece of wood and I think that's great for sustain but it does seem to suck the highs out a bit

Funny I don't think Reverend was the source of inspiration for the Revstar As above, Yamaha SGs are very similar looking to the Revstar But while looking for a new axe to grind, so to speak, I have landed on Revstar 702b and Reverend Flatroc (2021 model) as very similar propositions

The RSP20 comes with a hard case, but I think what you are looking for may be the Yamaha EG-HC case? Can be found on Amazon or through some other online retailers The description on the Amazon listing says it fits Pacifica and Revstar guitars -As for the RSP20, the guitar is divine

Weight is in the low 7 pound range Sustain is adequate but not mind blowing The neck feels chunky to me (totally forgot to measure it when I had the strings off!) but not wide by any means I can tell the difference between the Revstar and my Eastman for instance It's comfortable to play and it isn't Les Paul thick It does have a rib cut

Yamaha has successfully transferred their fit n' finish quality into the Indonesian factory Everything's quality, the variances most experience are set-up out of the box might need tweaking, which is to be expected The pickups are fine, of course people might want to mod to suit

I brought up the Reverend resemblance in an earlier thread Another poster reminded me (and provided pics) of a much older Yamaha model (which I can't recall at the moment) Yes, the RevStar does resemble the Reverend Sensei, but the Reverend Sensei resembles the older Yamaha model, so I don't think Reverend would have much grounds for a lawsuit

Yamaha would do well with a custom shop like ESP has Or even whatever Gibson and fender are now doing with limited option builds I'd like to see a chambered version a maple neck fretboard one An sss one I would also rock a floyded HS one The basic design is great They can do a lot more with it I just noted that the last pic has a H p90 combo!
