Yes, just buy the Halo 3 "DLC" The way they got the collection on Steam is a bit weird; when you buy either MCC or one of the games, which appear as DLC, it gives you the MCC launcher

When you buy Halo 3, you'll also get MCC, but you don't have to pay for it MCC just serves as a hub for the games In fact, every time you buy a separate title for MCC, you get a little reminder that your won't be getting another copy of MCC

Uncheck Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST from the DLC tab in Halo:MCC from Steam Go to the folder where MCC is installed Delete the Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST folders from the root directory Verify File Integrity from the Steam page and let it download back the files Try running Halo 3 It should work now! I wanna pick up Halo 3 on the Steam Sale, but before I do I want to double check that you can actually buy the individual games as DLC for the MCC without actually owning the MCC 3 was my youth and I wanna relieve it but ain't really interested in the other games Thanks, Katy
