Why they chose that route, none of us here can say Once you install the newer apps, as TuringTest said, you can no longer use iTunes to sync with your iPhone and must use the other apps If you don't want to do that, uninstall those newer apps and go back to just using iTunes (which you may need to reinstall) Regards
