I found an odd quirk with the auto-return on my Technics SL-Q202: the auto-return seems to be based on lateral tonearm movement (groove pitch) divided by turntable platter speed, so by moving the tonearm inward extremely slowly to a point further inward than a normal locked groove, then bringing it back to its rest again, the auto-return will not trigger outside of the point that was reached
