- Going to Kyoto and Osaka, any must eat things must visit . . . - Reddit
I visited Kyoto and Osaka two months ago Osaka is famous for takoyaki and okonomiyaki Dotonbori in Osaka is a famous sightseeing spot and there are many takoyaki restaurants, but I think the takoyaki at "Wanaka" and "Kukuru" are the best In Kyoto, Kiyomizu Temple, Arashiyama, Nishiki Market, and Fushimi Inari are famous tourist attractions
- Everything Kyoto - Reddit
I have been to famous spots like Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto station, Nishiki market, horseracing etc So I’m looking for hidden gems in Kyoto Preferably related to Japanese culture (I mean not like shopping centres) Events will also be good, but I searched in calendars and there’s no event in Kyoto Thank you so much!
- Best location to stay in for first visit to Kyoto?
I would suggest the Cross Hotel Kyoto (different location than the Sakura Cross Hotel suggested in another comment ) It was super close to Pontocho Alley and Kiyamachi-dori We easily walked to Gion several times The Sanyo train station is a 5 minute walk, and it was fairly easy getting to from Kyoto station
- “Best” train from Kyoto to Osaka with luggage. - Reddit
Google maps gives me 2 options which seem easy enough - the Hankyu line train or a JR Kyoto The JR train departs Kyoto main station so we’d either cab or take a subway there whereas the Hankyu leaves closer to our hotel from Omiya station Here’s the catch We are a group of 7 and will have 7 bags (effectively one each)
- Why does Kyoto and Tokyo have different kanji and not just . . . - Reddit
(kyoto is 京都府 kyouto-fu the suffixes 府 and 都 are different types of metropolitan prefecture) but yeah as others said, 東 and 都 are not homophones Reply reply
- 5 Days in KYOTO: What to do? What to skip? : r Kyoto - Reddit
5 days in Kyoto or 5 days in Kansai? For Kyoto itself, I think 5 days is a reasonable amount of time, but if you're using it as a base for Kansai I would recommend at least a couple more for at least day trips to Nara, Osaka, and Himeji (possibly with Kobe) For Kyoto itself, I answered almost this exact question a couple of years ago in this
- What’s the best area to stay in Kyoto? : r JapanTravelTips - Reddit
The buses to and from the further flung temples can all be gotten at Kyoto station Many travelers arrive in Kyoto by train and depart by train and use Kyoto as a base for day trips to Nara and Osaka Staying near Kyoto Station does seem to make the most sense to me
- How much time should we spend in Kyoto vs Tokyo?
Spend more time in Kyoto and less in Tokyo Kyoto has dozens of shrines, temples, and amazing food It is also cheaper than Tokyo (in general), and much more accessible by foot and public transport to multiple sites in a day Tokyo is fine for a sprawling city and all but if you like history Kyoto has more old sites that are still around and
- Luggage Delivery Service from Kyoto to Tokyo : r JapanTravelTips - Reddit
If just sending from the hotel in Kyoto to your hotel in Tokyo it typically takes 1-2 days so your luggage should be waiting for you at the hotel upon checkin in Tokyo You put down on the form the checkin date at the Tokyo hotel The hotel front desk in Kyoto should be able to help you fill out the form
