Given that hotel WiFi rarely reaches Beryl AX speeds and I might at some point need WPA2 Enterprise, the Slate Plus is the one I travel with (If the Slate AX wasn’t bigger, 3A vs 4A power, and prone to overheating, the answer would be that because it supports WPA2 Enterprise also )

- Differences GL-MT3000 and GL-AXT1800 - Routers - GL . . . - GL. iNet
The spec sheet indicates that the MT3000 is basically the size of the Beryl Slate Plus, so there are some size weight savings as well Hard to know what the price is going to be, but I assume the MT3000 will be cheaper than the AXT1800 based both on features and on the Mediatek vs Qualcomm chip
- Which Router to Use? - Routers - GL. iNet
The Opal Beryl Slate Plus are just a shade smaller than the AXT You can see the Beryl and Opal are not much of an improvement in OpenVPN, and even the Slate Plus isn’t that much because OpenVPN is single threaded WG, which is multithreaded, takes advantage of not only the higher clock speed but the multiple cores of the Slate Plus
- Slate AX performance versus Beryl AX processor - GL. iNet
Comparing the specs for both units, I’m curious why the Slate AX (IPQ6000 1 2GHz Quad-core Processor) had better Wireguard performance, while the Beryl AX (MT7981B Dual-core Processor @1 3GHz) has better OpenVPN performance Both seem process intensive Just curious if there Wireguard can use the quad core better for UDP traffic but lacks higher speed and maybe OpenVPN using TCP (or UDP
