- Best dual purpose rig- hunting and fishing | Duck Hunting Forum
The second option would be a 1754 or 1854 mud boat custom built by Prodigy boats with a Gator Tail mud motor This would obviously be the best choice for duck hunting, but I'm afraid would be the worst choice for fishing

- Help- Deciding on a new boat- Never knew itd be this tough
A gatortail, gatortrax, prodrive, prodigy, uncle J, deadfowl, and maybe one or two others make boats built to perform well and last a very long time You pay more but you won't have a boat that looks like crumpled paper after a year and can't haul a buddy with you
- Outboard or Surfsce Drive??? | Duck Hunting Forum
Prodigy is built near OP and there are dozens of 1 year old prodigy's and other SDs floating around classifieds because the Georgia owners realize they don't have the need for one, don't understand the maintenance required on a surface drive, and all of a sudden are upside down and in debt for a boat they don't need to shoot the minimal birds
- 1448 SeaArk Copperhead 23 hp - Duck Hunting Forum
It helped on my other boat which is a 1448 riveted jon with a 12 hp copperhead That boat pushes out ok as well The ribs on the bottom of both hulls do make it a little tougher to push sideways, but when it comes to turning on the mud, it grips and goes My buddy has a prodigy that slid way too much on the mud Ended up on an oyster bed
- SD or outboard - Duck Hunting Forum
Im buying a duck boat before next season and I'm having a hard time deciding which kinda motor I want to go with I mainly hunt big lakes but also want to start hunting the Ga coast some starting next season I was thinking a 1754 or 1860 Prodigy or Gatortail boat with either a GTR37 w a stage 1 or 2 kit, or a yamaha 70hp outboard with a jack
- What size motor are you running on an 1860? | Page 2 - Duck Hunting Forum
A lot of it is because it has multiple longitudinal stringers and better thicker aluminum so it isn't like a normal run of the mill aluminum hull Essentially all the gatortail, prodrive, prodigy, etc boats are designed the same and probably respond similarly It hunts well and fishes well, but doesn't handle chop well
- Mud Boat vs Jon Boat - Duck Hunting Forum
So far ive narrowed it down to the 15-17 foot range Most of hunting comes in the form of inland lakes Im stuck in between a surface drive mud boat (gator tail, havoc mst, or a prodigy) or a regular outboard on an all welded jon boat (alumacraft waterfowler 16, lowe 16, war eagle, or a havoc)
