That's rare though Dealerships buy or finance the cars they sell, they can't return unsold merchandise Most of the time they find a price point or package of incentives that get the last year's cars out the door Those that don't can find themselves uses as a dealer loaner car until they can sell it used Worst case, they can be auctioned off

Most (big) dealers floor plan their new car inventory They have a line of credit with the bank that the manufacturer finances through, a Yukon would be GM financial They usually have a period of 3-6 months before they start paying on floor plan Once the car is sold, it is paid off within 24hrs to that lender
