- Back to Basics: RAID-DP - NetApp Community
Existing RAID 4 RAID groups can be converted to RAID-DP Conversions occur at the aggregate or traditional-volume level, and there must be an available disk (that is at least as large as the largest disk in the RAID group) for the diagonal parity disk for each RAID group
- Solved: Raid-DP Vs Raid-6 - NetApp Community
Hello Everyone, Could someone shed some light as to how the 2nd parity bit is calculated for both RAID-DP and RAID-6 Is it the same? I understand ,the only difference between RAID-6 and RAID-DP is that, the 2nd parity bit is distributed in raid-6 unlike Raid-Dp But how is the 2nd parity bit calcu
- RAID DP Disk Failure - NetApp Community
I know that RAID_DP allows 2 disk failure Let's say there's already a disk with double parity failed, and theretically, it allows another disk to fail, but if another disk fails, will the system shut itself down automatically after 24 hours for its own data-protection?
- Netapp RAID DP and RAID 6
The similarity in concept is why Ontap supports both RAID4 and RAID-DP, but not RAID5, btw Now, on non-Ontap systems, dedicated parity drives are a disadvantage because they tend to become the hotspot of the RAID set because they have to be written to for every single write that occurs, no matter how small those writes may be
- Solved: Raid group - NetApp Community
On the FAS2650, raid-dp has a limitation of 14 disks The professional installer had one aggregate with 20 disks which belong to two raid groups rg0 group has 14 disks rg1 group has 6 disks Would it be better if i adjust both groups to be equally, like 10 disks each per raid group? If I
- About performance differences(RAID Aggregate) - NetApp
Hi I'm currently designing the following configuration, but I can't judge how much performance will be affected by the design content, so if you have any information, please cooperate The configuration is as follows Model number: AFF250 Expansion port: MEZZANINE 4-Port 25GbE x2 Disk: 7 6TB, NV
- Netapp FAS 2020 system comes default with RAID DP how . . .
However, then both the Aggregates ( RAID-4 RAID-DP) will be running without any global hot-spare If you want to have more usable space, you can add 1 disk ( out of the 2 remaining) NetApp best practice is to keep atleast 1 hot spare within 2 disk shelf ( if using RAID-DP)
- Can I change raid type from raid4 to raid-dp? - NetApp
So my RAID-4 system will have very little performance hit on a disk failure I can still suffer 2 failures, although not at the same time In a RAID-DP system I have 2 parity disks but no hot spare, so any failure, proactive or
- vol0 - RAID4 or RAID-DP ? - NetApp Community
Hi all I am interested to hear what people do for the RAID config for vol0 aggr0 I have always left it as a 3 disk RAID-DP aggregate with vol0 on it Now disk sizes have got so big, is it a normal and recommended practice to use RAID4 for aggr0 so as not to lose another disk, as with 3 disks in
- RAID configuration and setup on AFF C250 - NetApp Community
Hi All, I just need some clarification here from any expert here regarding to my NetApp AFF C250 setup Below is my queries: 1) If let say i have 8 disk on my current new AFF C250 and we set-up the aggregate when using the system manager, the default RAID that automatically assigned by the NetA
