Hey! Just wanted to create a discussion thread for the Class of 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program I’m aware that it is a bit early in the game, but as the last round of PSAT scores will be released next week, I think it would be smart to have a head start!

PSAT score gives double weighting to the math questions, so the math answers ended up contributing 1 2 of the PSAT score This round, NM cutoff will be based on a Selection Index, not on the PSAT score, where all the questions have even weighting, which means the math questions only contribute 1 3

<p>I was really worried about the PSAT even though I shouldn’t have been; I have a 4 0+ GPA, and I’m just a pretty good student in general Everyone kept telling me how if one were to be a merit scholar, that he or she could almost be guaranteed to get into his or her college of choice I was pretty scared and thought I need to make sure I was a merit scholar to get into my dream school

My 8th grader took the Digital PSAT 8 9 this Fall and the results we just got appear to be completely wrong It’s really strange The details – he took the PSAT 8 9 at school The results that show up in his account for the day he took the test are a 1520 on the actual PSAT (not the 8 9, which doesn’t even go to 1520)

The PSAT is taken only by potential college applicants I wonder whether the groups against which the tests are normed matters If you used the ACT SAT conversion chart, that chart would apply to potential college applicants only (Except in Illinois, where everyone takes the ACT as juniors) < p>

<p>How heavily is the PSAT weighed for admission into an ivy league? Like my score wasn’t enough for national merit but it definitely got Commended (but I consider that bombing) If I were to score high on my SAT, would that overshadow my PSAT score?< p>

“The PSAT NMSQT and PSAT 8 9 will be delivered digitally in 2023 with the PSAT 10 following in 2024 ” If you plan on doing any prep, I would *research the new format in more detail to know what PSAT format your student will take in 2022, what PSAT format they will take in 2023 and what format SAT they will take
