  • Vanguard fund recommendations? - Mr. Money Mustache
I use a bunch of tax managed Vanguard funds I am using my taxable account to generate passive income streams primarily income producing funds, with a few shots of capital appreciation So, my funds are tuned for that If you need more info, you can look for passive income streams in my blog Hope it helps
  • $100,000 minimum Vanguard fund - Mr. Money Mustache
Several Vanguard Admiral funds have a $50,000 minimum I invested in the Long-term Investment-grade fund, with a $50,000 minimum (also qualified me for Voyager status) years ago It wasn't until I started reading this forum did I know that Vanguard offered Admiral funds with a $10,000 minimum
  • Buying Vanguard - direct or through Commsec (Australia)
When you open an account with Vanguard you buy in their managed fund, which don't have transaction fee, but a much higher expense ratio: 0 75% for the first 50k for the Australian share fund So you get more flexibility with the ETF, and potentially lower cost if your transaction are big enough to make the fee small in comparison
  • Is it safe to keep all your money in Vanguard (in only one place)?
If you invest in one of Vanguard's index funds, you are using Vanguard as the brokerage You aren't investing *in* Vanguard They take a (very!) small fee and invest your money across the index of funds or bonds that oyu have chosen For me that's the S P 500
  • So I transferred all my mutual funds to Vanguard, but now fees to sell?
Only one of my funds incurred a fee but my primary concern was that the funds I was liquidating where not similar in their contents to what I was going to be buying with Vanguard So I wanted to be able to control the exact date I liquidated because a 1-2% difference in when I sold Fidelity bought Vanguard would outweigh the $35 fee incurred
  • How do I exchange Vanguard index funds without a taxable event?
Let's say I own two Vanguard funds, a REIT fund (VGSLX), and the total stock market index fund (VTSAX) Taxable account I want to move funds from VGSLX to VTSAX Is that a taxable event? Is it basically a sale of VGSLX, with realization of gains, followed by a purchase of VTSAX?
  • Vanguard vs. Fidelity funds - Mr. Money Mustache
To the OP, I would not have any problems with swaps between good Vanguard and good Fidelity funds Be happy you're not stuck with Mass Mutual or NY Life funds $10,000 invested in FZROX on 8 2 2018 when the product was created has turned into $10,625 75
  • Vanguard Dividend Funds - Mr. Money Mustache
Are you asking about dividend-focused funds in general vs broader funds or Vanguard vs non-Vanguard dividend funds? I personally don't want to invest in dividend-focused investments It's a form of stock picking A lot of companies are doing well reinvesting their money instead of giving it out
