I am so sick and tired of these "green links" things Do they realize, it's actually causing people to have to remove genuinely informative content from their pages? For example; "Critical Research Failure" had to be removed from the Trivia section of Crash Canyon because it's no longer a category because now it's been split up into like 10 different subtropes of different kinds of Critical

From the trope name standpoint, well, you can see the various arguments in this article But generally, TVTropes has been moving away from various references in order to let anyone understand the essence of the trope from its name They're also working to minimize Just A Face and a Caption so that trope images properly convey the trope even to the layman

TVtropes is an excellent website for researching tropes which I still regularly browse However, it's a lot less fun than it used to be TVtropes has become a lot more authoritarian since the revamp, less interested in making tropes and their examples fun to read and deleting examples for stupid reasons

Basically, TvTropes used to be more open in the kinds of tropes it allowed A while back though, the moderation began cracking down on content they deemed inappropriate which largely meant sexual content A number of sex tropes and works deemed "pornographic" were removed from the site

TVTropes is a great site but its userbase has bred some of the worst media discourse I've ever seen People will act like tropes are inherently bad and that using a popular trope automatically makes your story "unoriginal"
