Play [[rings of brighthearth]] and [[basalt monolith]] or [[grim monolith]] to make infinite colorless mana, then tap [[sensei's divining top]] to draw, copy the ability using ring to draw top that you initially put on top Repeat and draw your deck Then play everything out from there Or win through [[laboratory maniac]] 👍
- Am I going insane or is Sensei’s Divining Top not good in a . . . - Reddit
Top is good if you can utilize the top of your library Top used to be even stronger in older days where the number of dead draws were higher, and it was about optimally using your mana Many cards are more complete engines, resulting in 'dead draws' being a less relevant topic Top is still REALLY powerful, but far less necessary for decks
- Counterbalance + Senseis Divining Top - MTG Salvation
I knew I had a 2 CMC card on the top of my library, and they play a 1 CMC card I want to use the Divining Top's tap ability in response to the opponent's spell on the stack to put it on top of the library before revealing the top of library card with Counterbalance, but I'm not sure the order of operations for a triggered ability

You can "float" SDT's first ability, and activate its second in response, like you said If you do this, you draw a card and put SDT on top of your library, then look at your top three and reorder them SDT will be your top card when you look, but you can put it first, second, or third when you finish resolving that ability Hope that helped

Reordering the top 3, twice, doesn't do so much when you draw 6 new cards anyways Unless it's being abused ( Rings of Brighthearth , Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient , Future Sight , etc), or in colors where draw quantity is so low that you need to increase draw quality , I think it tends to be overused
- Destroy Senseis Divining Top - MTG Salvation
I'm not quite sure how the stack works yet, and I was wondering how to get rid of a Sensei's Divining Top From my understanding, if you target it with removal the top can be tapped when removal is on the stack the owner draws, then puts top back on top of the library then the removal resolves and is countered due to no legal target

The biggest issue to replacing Top is that Top is one of the only cards that provides card selection without card disadvantage (Top can replace itself at any time, infinitely if used with shuffle effects) If you use a replacement, you have to realize that it's actually going to need to take a slot in the deck, rather than replacing itself
- PSA: Senseis Divining Top is not that good in EDH : r EDH - Reddit
Uh Ok Sure I guess I can say specifically that Top doesnt need other cards to be good with it, but it sure as hell becomes a lot better if there are cards that do work with it Cascade, Shuffling, Clash, Anything that lets you play with the top card or reveals the top card come to mind which I hear are pretty popular in EDH Ball is slow
