- Extremely slow speeds with A7000 Nighthawk usb adapter
I recently had to replace the boot drive on another PC, and after a fresh install of windows 10 I just plugged in my netgear USB adapter (a much older one than the A7000) and everything worked fine I tested that again today and was still getting about 125 Mbps download I tested the A7000 there and immediately jumped up to about 240 Mbps Awesome!

Wanting to optimize the settings for my A7000, I've tried looking up ideal adapter properties online, but most resources I've found either don't list the options I can see, or only mention adapters from different manufacturers This is what I see Let me know if there's any other information I should provide

The A7000 Downlods (for Windows at least) contin two different kits: The key one is the "SA" standalone kit containing only the drivers, allowing to use and configure the A7000 from the ubiquitous windows controls The one wiith the Genie utility is a obsolete design based on Windows 3 11 ideas, avoid

I think I solved the problem with the A7000 that turns off intermittently and also the problem with it only using USB 2 0 speeds It seems the problem with ALL usb wifi dongles is overheating I believe the RunSwUSB exe file is also realtek's program that switches from USB 3 0 to 2 0 when the dongle overheats

Recently I've started expirencing random ping spikes with my Netgear A7000 adapter I have reinstalled the software, as well as tried older versions of it to no avail I have found a solution- disabiling WLAN Auto Config in it's settings via netsh, however this is a very messy solution and I shouldn't have to do this on a production unit

Currently running Windows 10 with the most up to date A7000 Genie And as of right now, while typing this, it's using 27% of my CPU I've been on here to see about reducing that number, and I've been told to install the Standalone Driver for it Which I have done so in the past, but it apparently has just simply reinstalled the A7000 Genie
