I have AHCCCS , Maricopa Health Plan as my health insuranceI am wondering if they ever approve any kind of weight loss surgery?I notice that some people have gotten the surgery with AHCCCS APIPAwhat is the difference between APIPA and MHP?

Consider switching your plan to Mercy Care, they approve more often then Health plan They all, meaning AHCCCS have to follow the same guidelines for approval They claim they are: 5 years medial history of obesity, 6 month supervised weight loss losing 5% of body weight, and then all the pre op evaluations and tests

I personally had private insurance at the time in 2001 but I know a person who went to the WISH center in I believe Tempe and she had Medicare - SHE did have some to pay - around $2000 but that is all she had to pay I think - it was a few years ago I have heard of AHCCCS paying - AZ Medicaid paying, but dont know who takes it in Tucson or other parts of AZ Have also heard of Tri-Care paying
