To use the larger powerglide clutches in the drum that the new intermediate shaft goes in, you have to disassemble the drum and put in a new lower profile piston that is supplied by Century there is a special GM tool to squeeze the piston so you can remove the snap ring but I just used a series of c-clamps just keep the pressure even and don't go nuts tightening the clamps

Hughes Engines might be able to help you pick components: Hughes Engines For a low rpm torque motor build on a budget, probably would need stock compression pistons, Scat makes them (Get the Magnum specific stroker pistons, the regular LA block is a taller deck)
