- Alternative acrylics to Golden. - WetCanvas: Online Living for Artists
I would probably buy at least 16oz jars and those as i see can go $20 or $30 and higher for one Which is crazy to me but since this I need some good quality acrylics with the same consistency about of the Golden Heavy Body without the outragous prices Then of course there is Liquitex
- Acrylics and Bob Ross method? - WetCanvas: Online Living for Artists
Years ago I tried to use acrylics with the Bob Ross method because I couldn’t stand the thinner or turpentine needed for regular oils Using Acrylics in this way is quite a chore because acrylics dry too fast to get the blending like oils Jerry Yarnell does come close to using Bob Ross method with acrylics
- alcohol with acrylics–effects washes - WetCanvas: Online Living for . . .
I once tried thinning acrylics with 97%vol alcohol – it dried way too fast for my purpose So I don’t know if it’s good for doing a wash, unless you work really fast Maybe a lower alcohol content does a better trick
- To what degree can you use soft pastels with acrylic?
I can think of two British artists who work in this way—Debbie Loane and Lewis Noble Lewis, I know, uses watercolour pencils with acrylics, Debbie is much more mixed-media and uses acrylic, acrylic inks, pastels and anything else that might come to hand Have you considered using acrylic inks?
- Liquitex vs Golden vs Blick - WetCanvas: Online Living for Artists
I’ve also had some good luck with Utrecht fluid acrylics You might be happy with the price Never heard of it I’ll have to check that out I’m used to FolkArt ( yeah yeah i know i can hear you all groaning lol) but when you dont have the funds you work with what you can and mainly i use their enamels because i paint dogs etc on glass
