I know of two companies that make them Nucanoe and the Ultimate by Native Watercraft are both hybrid canoe kayak products that, in my opinion, encompass the best of both worlds I own a 14 5 ft Native Ultimate Tandem that converts to solo I too struggled with the decision of canoe vs kayak and was led in the same direction I am sharing with you

The store bought ones are getting sort of pricey for something tht could be lost I did make one using the foil from wine bottle then coating with epoxy It lasted about an hour A gar nipped at it and pretty much finished it off
