Shortly after making this thread I sold the camo canoe and replaced it with a sportspal x-13 scanoe I outfitted the scanoe with a used 2 hp honda outboard( 4 stroke with air cooled motor and water cooled exhaust) that is the lightest in its class at 27 lbs The new canoe is also 40lbs lighter than the camo one since it is aluminium

12 ft wilderness systems 14 foot solo canoe I'll be using mainly for fly fishing, all inland, no rapids I've got a Jeep Wrangler, so there will be loading height to consider I've borrowed a friends sit in and liked it, but access was difficult I had decided to go with a SOT, then as I looked around, thought a solo canoe would be good

Trying to compare SOTS and sitins is like comparing apples and oranges No can do If I had to choose only one kind of boat for the rest of my life it might be a decked canoe--though my pirogues are a close second Happily my 5 panel design is an adaptation between the decked canoe and pirogue It is a design that has evolved over many years

I almost bought one Many here seem to think that because they are so wide that they would be a hassle to paddle, but from reviews I have read it's exactly the opposite
