On the car when i connect phone, carplay starts up but continues to listen to the radio which is great Also while using maps the radio still plays However, in the van , carplay takes over the audio and plays whatever was last played on phone I cant get radio to play without switching off carplay I cant also listen to radio while maps is on

I have a wireless CarPlay unit and wireless CarPlay uses WiFi for the data screen connectivity to the CarPlay unit from the phone It’s a point to point connection So with wireless CarPlay you need to have the WiFi on Of course if you are using a wired CarPlay connection you don’t need the WiFi

Apple CarPlay works great as you would expect… both wired and wireless There is zero latency and it works as good or better than I've seen in OEM CarPlay examples from Volkswagen, Mazda, etc I’ve always preferred wired though and I’ll keep trying both to find the best option for me I like wired as it charges my phone and is 100% reliable
