- FastStone Image Viewer and extracting Jpgs from RAW DNGs
FastStone would open the folder and display previews in a few seconds - allowing me to locate the image I was after and generate a quick JPG with minimal fuss If I wanted a high quality image, I would then fire up a RAW converter to create one
- FastStone Image Viewer and extracting Jpgs from RAW DNGs - Pentax Forums
You have to be sure that Faststone isn't just working off that Also for working with RAWs in Faststone make sure your setup is Faststone: Menu>Settings>View RAW files in: > Actual Size (slow) Ditto for 'Batch convert RAW files' That might avoid Faststone working off the mini previews
- FastStone - PentaxForums. com
For those using Faststone for raw, the raw settings are extremely important For browsing you want the "fast" options enabled purely for speed, but they're not suitable for editing Even with Faststone using optimal settings, I haven't been able to extract much dynamic range from raw, so you may find you need another converter to do that
- Faststone now does video - PentaxForums. com
Faststone now "does" video The latest version 6 3 of FastStone Image Viewer, Screen Capture, Photo Resizer finally recognizes and plays video files Before, it would not even show an icon for a video, so it is nice that it now does
- FastStone Auto-Adjust Colours - PentaxForums. com
FastStone seemed to average out the colours from all three images and apply that to the auto-adjust result And it only seemed to work on the last image in the series too For what it's worth, other freeware image viewers editors I like (eg IrfanView and XnView ) do offer colour auto-adjust as a batch operation, if that is important to you
- Faststone question, how to save an edited RAW file for further editing . . .
Faststone is a great free image viewer and organizer It is also very nice for jpeg editing While it can process raw images it is more for viewing purposes than editing There are some free non-destructive raw editors out there - I'm sure some folks will chime in with some
- Problem comparing images in FastStone Image Viewer
My guess would be that Faststone is using the embedded jpeg in the raw file for viewing thus they would be identical Edit to add - there is a setting in Faststone to use the embedded jpeg for faster raw viewing which you can turn off In the top menu, hit "settings", then choose "settings" Then hit the "RAW" tab
- In praise of FASTSTONE - PentaxForums. com
I use FastStone extensively for browsing, culling, and basic editing The speed, 100% full screen display, and intuitive controls are fantastic The fact that it remembers previous settings allows you to re-apply some adjustments as keyboard shortcuts All my work starts in FastStone, and I call out to other programs from within it
