Rustoleum is a oil based paint you will never be able to put "a real" paint job unless you completely strip the rustoleum off and on little car like that it will cost more to remove the old than to repaint it

Rustoleum is an alkyd enamel based finish that dries from solvent evaporation and oxidization If you shot the clear over the colour coat whyle the first coat s were still flashing, you have probably trapped solvent beneith the clear, and that would explane the die back of the clear's gloss

I used the Rustoleum Stops Rust line of products thinned 4 parts paint to 1 part mineral spirits and then added 2 ounces of Majic hardener per pint of paint I have read that any type of enamel hardener will probably work but I used the Majic just because it was readily available at the local Rural King store

Body color is a 3:1 mix of RUSTOLEUM RED GLOSS and FLAT BLACK---Gave me a dark Burgundy color in a SEMI-GLOSS luster Kinda reminds me of a 60's era paint job fading away Works for my style ride Frame and firewall are a SATIN BLACK from RUSTOLEUM

after using rustoleum primer and getting very poor results i found this Mr Rustoleum thread i'd bought rustoleum primer and color coat but after the crappy results from the primer and reading the other post i don't think i want to use the rustoleum for the color coat the primer coat will have to be sanded to even consider using it

My son used Rustoleum satin black for painting the risers on the roof of his house 6 years later with harsh envirnment (those horrible San Jose, Ca winters!) and they are still darkest satin black My F100 running boards looked terrible, so my wife mixed up some canned satin black and masked and shot them
