No idea why you're downvoted here People unfamiliar with Ubiquiti or the software controller concept find it confusing at first and I can see the OPs confusion in thinking they bought a gateway or router I also see the top commenters point from a Ubiquiti perspective as the OP is upset they can't do router things when they didn't buy a router

The Gateway Max is _just_ a gateway device It doesn't run the Network app or anything else, you need to run that somewhere else (self host, CloudKey, etc) The Cloud Ultra is a gateway PLUS an app server that runs the Network app, etc directly on it It needs to have more memory because it has to manage all the stuff the Gateway Max doesn't
