+1 on Eagle Rare If you are looking for a good step up from Jack and Jim, without spending crazy money, I'd look at Eagle, Maker's Mark, Knob Creek, and my favorite mid-range and house "well" bourbon Wild Turkey (101 of course) For my money Wild Turkey is a great sipping whiskey for $17 at Trader Joe's

It might be $5-10 outside your price range, but Basil Hayden's 8yr is pretty decent Other than that though, I can't think of too many 80pr Bourbons that are of good quality and made for sippin' (rather than mixin')

I like the Premium Vodka for sipping and the Silver Tequila for mixing The tequila is good for sipping as well, but here in SoCal there is a lot of better tequila available for not that much more money Only other Kirkland brand I tried was the 18 year old scotch, which I wasn't crazy about It had an off taste and really wasn't that cheap either
