We would go in the morning then go get lunch and spend some time in the Tuilleries and then head back into the Louvre in the afternoon Now because of the way ticketing works at the Louvre with entries not to the whole museum but to the wings, they enforce the 'one visit' rule by only allowing entry to each wing once

The Louvre is busy on Mondays (and Versailles in closed on Mondays) and Versailles is busy on Tuesdays (and the Louvre is busy on Tuesdays) So it seems that Thursday would be the least busy day for both (presumably, unless the holiday on Wednesday increases the crowds on Thursday), but I don’t want to do both on the same day

David, that makes sense to me The long lines at the Louvre are for security checks at the Pyramid entrance If you start at the Carousel entrance, you go through a shopping mall to the Louvre entrance and the security line - if any - is short Once you're inside, you can buy a ticket at a machine or a window I've never seen long lines there

I think there is a big problem with the Louvre website today Two friends of mine here in Paris were trying to get signed in to purchase Louvre event tickets and were also getting blocked, told they already had log-ins, etc Unfortunately I think there is a bad bug in there today !
