The M4 barrel extension is the physical part on the barrel as in the photo above M4 feed ramps generally refers to the matching feed ramps cut into the upper receiver More correctly, M4 feed ramps consist of the the extended feed ramps cut in both the extension and the upper

FYI, a M4 extension will work just fine in a receiver not cut for the extension The only problem is when you run an extension with out M4 ramps in a receiver with M4 ramps cut into it This creates a lip where the noses of bullets can catch

Dropped them on to 2 spare Colt M4 lowers, used Colt BCG's CH's, and used some spare Aimpoint PRO's Need MaTech rear sights, some Colt double heat shielded handguards, and to set them up with slings
