The Nitron finish on my Sigs is still in excellent condition My 1994 P229 probably has the best condition of all, except for the 1 month old M11-A1 Even my 2006 2007 LEO P226 trade-ins are still completely intact I don't see any wear on any of the finish, but there are a couple of 1mm X 1mm "chips" in the Nitron near sharp edges

Nitron is a lot more durable for sure; I have an older P226 that I tried to do some work on and have had tools really against the finish, and it doesn’t bother the Nitron much I think I bought into the FOMO here in CA and with what’s going on, so I paid a premium for what should be a $1300 MSRP pistol, if I had to do it again, the money

If you’re gonna put it in a leather holster leave it alone, it looks fine I like the Nitron finish on my Sigs, LOVE the blue on my old Colt GCNM and the duty finish on the DW Guardian Colt used to do a satin nickel finish that was nice and high polished nickel that screamed Hollywood Cowboy that I thought was horrendous

I've used the Casey pens, and it works for a while But, it isn't nitron finish, so it will wear off and have to be touched again Also, the sheen is slightly different, so it will still show up Depending on how bad and what your inclination is- anal or just for maintenance- refinishing may be the only way to have it satisfactory again
