  • Kepler says portable PS6 is a 15W SoC on 3nm [UP: runs PS5 . . . - ResetEra
No, I'm saying it'll play PS4 and PS5 games Will play some PS6 games, but most PS6 games will be playable through streaming only Storage is gonna be the real thing that goes against this device I don't think it's gonna have any ability to play games you own physically as it will be a digital only device
  • Kepler says portable PS6 is a 15W SoC on 3nm [UP: runs PS5 . . . - ResetEra
A portable PS6 in 2028 should be able to comfortably play PS1-PS4 games Even though base PS5 is unlikely to be possible, most big PS5 games have PS4 versions The rest can be patched with PS6 support to run at lower resolutions and framerate targets There might be some exceptions but probably not many
  • [Digital Foundry] How PlayStation 5 Pro lays the groundwork for PS6 and . . .
Richard is saying that the PS5 Pro sets up a PS6 in the same way that NVIDIA's 20-series set up the current generation of path-traced, AI-upscaled and frame-generated games on PC It's a move away from native rendering being the goal If you want native 4K, the only way you'll get that is buying a high-end PC and doing it yourself
  • What are the financial business incentives for Sony to launch the PS6 . . .
If the PS6 is a hybrid system a la Switch, then I might be interested, but if it's just a more powerful PS5, count me out The PS5 Pro seems like a complete waste of money, and I just don't see them creating a PS6 that is a big enough jump over that to be worth it in a couple years, especially when I have a perfectly fine PC setup
  • What features are you hoping to see on the PS6? - ResetEra
Cerny stated that it takes about 4 years to design a new console, and with now being 4 years away from the likely launch of the PS6, I think it'd be nice to discuss what we'd like to see that machine be capable of I'll kick off my list: 1 Dual Wi-Fi chips I'd like to see the PS6 have two Wi-Fi chips so one can be used to connect to the
  • Kepler says portable PS6 is a 15W SoC on 3nm [UP: runs PS5 . . . - ResetEra
Given the numerous first-party ports to PC, I'd say there's a good merit for a PS5 Portable to have their own "PS5" version of those respective ports, given that Sony already had to scale back some game titles across various range of hardware (that doesn't mean its plug and play ofc and it'll run Sony's OS and APis)
  • Kepler says portable PS6 is a 15W SoC on 3nm [UP: runs PS5 . . . - ResetEra
No, I mean Sony haven't even mentioned anything about a PS6 let alone a release date In all likelihood it'll be 2027 at the absolute earliest but given how much more powerful this generation of machines are over the previous ones, and the issues around supply and game development because of the pandemic, then I wouldn't be surprised to see it
  • Kepler says portable PS6 is a 15W SoC on 3nm [UP: runs PS5 . . . - ResetEra
Probably because of expectations of next generation by 2027 2028 Though as mentioned earlier the reality will probably end up being that as games have gotten more scalable and as PS6 nextbox come in at higher prices, the cross gen period will remain lengthy with the PS6 portable and last gen consoles still getting compatible titles with PS6 getting largely upper-bound enhancements
