Pre-prime = RE-prime for best results Factory primed materials are rarely "the best" primers :whistling2: The longer some materials sit around, getting dirty dusty moved around the more the primer suffers; starting to chalk, gets too dried-out, brittle, etc

Simple enough to re-prime It was inconsistent in the beginning but then became like clockwork I don't even try to start it in the morning, just pop the hood and re-prime, commute 50 miles, sit for 8-10 hours and will start up 95% of the time, commute back home but next morning will need priming for sure Will probably have a pressure test

If the wood has been primed or painted and we are just doing repairs, we spot prime it with a spray can of Kilz Usually it's Bondo, Spot Primer, Red Glazing Putty (To Fix anything small that is still wrong), Spot Primer, and maybe a second coat of Glazing Spot Putty if both the Primer and 1st glazing putty are DRY-DRY

Smart Prime sands nicely to a powder, better than most waterborne primers I like that and its relatively fast dry time Waterbased BIN -- intriguing -- hope it sands well There are waterbased sanding sealers for wood finishing, an alternative to shellac So maybe there could be a waterbased BIN that performs

We only spot prime with oil as needed for stain blocking The elasticity of acrylics works best for us We currently use a combination of emulsabond, primer rx, exterior duration semi-gloss, and sometimes add floetrol for ultra-smooth finish
