Some keys on my laptop's keyboard are not working The spacebar, b and n keys They work if I press and hold them for like 20-30 seconds I already tried to troubleshoot, update reinstall keyboard drivers If I press and hold the key for sometime it will work once

I have a dell latitude e6410 and initially the keys 'n', 'b', spacebar and arrow keys weren't working I have now replaced my keyboard and all other keys are working except the spacebar I now feel like it could be more than a hardware issue

This prevents the spacebar from bending and cures the problem completely I had two laptops fail this way so I would guess that a lot of other users will have experienced the same problem This looks like a design defect to me (a retired engineer) Either the spacebar is too bendy or the keyswitch is too stiff

My spacebar (specifically the right side) is intermittently registering clicks and not putting a space often when I type The left side does not appear to have the same issue Is it possible something is stuck not aligned (I do not hear anything off)?

J, I did get my issue resolved by getting a replacement laptop I contacted Dell Customer Service, gave them my service tag info which pulled up my limited warranty info and they offered me to either a) have a tech come out to look at the laptop and replace the spacebar or, b) get a replacement laptop

Matt, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum You can try to clean the area under the spacebar with a can of compressed air  Be sure to look at the keycap replacement procedure if the key comes loose  This is posted as item #6 on the Keyboard Pointing Devices FAQ  Most likely the keyboard should be replaced and this can be done by contacting Dell Support for a hardware
