Update: After testing my speedtest with the servers set to the same location as most of my actual downloads, I'm getting speeds closer to 1200Mbits, which is much more in line with my actual download speed This seems to be the most likely explanation so far Thanks to everyone who replied! Really appreciate the advice

The speedtest net server that it uses is displayed while running the test It's also listed in small print in the results on the web page I usually get similar results when I match the servers What I find odd is that the speedtest app and the UDMP default to different servers

However, when I run speedtest net from any of my pcs in the network I seem to cap out at 150~160mbps I thought maybe it's that wifi connection between the wireguard server and gateway So I plug my laptop directly to the gateway and head over to speedtest net in chrome and I get the same 150~160mbps I go back to my phone and tried the app

The second thing would be your ISP throttling the steam download to save some bandwidth ISPs can generally see when you are doing a speedtest and they will give you what you pay for when testing Try doing a speedtest while downloading If the download speed in steam increases during the speedtest, then that's probably the issue

Latency main factor that would make Speedtest inaccurate is distance Speedtest usually looks for closest server to you If the server you have issue with is somewhere further, you'll have more latency In gaming, that's why your ping is higher when you're in server out of your region
