Actually, the indicated pump pressure isn't what supports the crank at all The pressure floating the crank and rods is only developed by rotating the crank (50 psi at the main bearing would last perhaps 1 second); the "pressure" is only a rough indicator of how fast the pump refreshes the oil going through

There are lots of "rules of thumb" about what should be parallel or pointing up or down Mostly it's all bunk Just do the calculations and design a geometry for the handling characteristics you want Some adjustability is always a good thing as well

A mic a dial bore gauge or even snap gauges are light years ahead of feeler gauges Knowing what material the pistons are made of will tell you proper clearance , ring material will tell you what grit stone

Just pull number on plug on the front left bank, pull coil wire to keep it from starting, stick your thumb over the hole, bump it slowly with your remote start button or a buddy on the key switch, when it blows against your thumb pull the cap and make sure the rotor is pointing at the number one hole, if it is not, like Jean Luc Piccard would

The 3 hole wheel was a Cal Custom trademark ( not registered) I have never seen an early Superior wheel (pre Grant) with 3 holes The only superior wheels I have seen that I remember with the thumb groove were early wheels That is probably little help and it is just my experience as memory serves but there you have it
