Australian Weta National Titles have just been run n won Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club on Lake Macquarie (just north of Sydney) hosted 36 entrants in 1 2ups on 'interesting' conditions, a couple of solid blows + some light n shifty stuff Queenslanders wiped the floor of the majors (1st 2nd 3rd 1ups 1st 2nd of 2ups)

Even if you don´t do a foiler, the weta does not lift the center hull, the ama submerges first Nose diving and ama submerging are the current limits to Weta speed Partial lift ama foils + T rudder would reduce the tendency to nose dive and provide lift in the amas So wouldn´t this mods extract a couple more knots of top end speed?

Righting a weta, (super light carbon mast) flood the ama, grab the board and pull the boat over For the Searail, maybe a flooded ama and 3 dudes with righting lines? If it happens to me I think I'd rig a bridle to the front beams and pull 'ass under bow over' method with 2 dudes on the rear beams for weight to sink the back

With my Weta dolly on the trailer, I can dismount it, rig it and have it in the water ready to go in under 20 minutes, easy 15 if I really push it I have watched some other Weta sailors recently and they're doing things that they really don't need to do - i e never bother removing your halyards from the mast when you de-rig

And, the Astus is a bit complicated time consuming to rig As far as comparing the Astus 16 5 to the Weta - you can't do it fairly A single Astus 16 5 would tow an entire fleet of Weta's anywhere it wanted to go and never know they were back there It's a much, much much more powerful boat It's not a two person Weta it's a four person Weta
