I_Heart_Astronomy Aperture can't really make up contrast for extended objects unless that extra aperture lets you work at reasonable exit pupils that would otherwise be impossible in a smaller scope (e g trying to see Stephen's Quintet at 200x in a 4" scope and 0 5mm exit pupil vs 12" scope at 1 5mm exit pupil)

Photoshop - ubiquitous, lots of community knowledge out there, recommend the Astronomy Tools Action Set and GradientXterminator add-in, if you go this route Downsides: not really designed for light-deprived images like astrophotography and you can sometimes lose detail Subscription package with Lightroom at $10 mo

Anyone having issues with this action set and photoshop (2022)? Keep getting errors like "Hue Saturation not found"
