There are lists of games on itch io that have been tagged as being made with Pygame, and the Pygame site has its own list of games as well These lists seem to be "games that are made entirely in Python using Pygame" If you loosen your definition of "made with Python and or Pygame" quite a bit, you start to see a LOT more recognizable titles

Maybe pygame didn't work for you and that's OK But generalizing they pygame is a " stay away" is utterly wrong What im reading between those comment lines seems to me like a poor understanding of Pattern design and code structuring Pygame can build way more than space evaders Take a look at DafluffyPotato youtube channel

The best way to learn anything is to just go ahead and do it For pygame, I would say just open your IDE and a youtube tutorial and follow it, it's a good enough start

I did it with sudo apt-get install python3-pygame Python3 was installed anyway because it is needed for some operating system tasks anyway (including part of dpkg which is used by apt-get) But I do not know if that would help you because you might use different operating system
