Toyota doesnt seem to have a real solution but rather a band aid currently I have seen reports of this apron reinforcement upgrade that after few weeks or months, the fender bulge crack recurrs

The manual for the '12 (and I believe prior years to '10) specify “Toyota Genuine Transfer Gear Oil LF” The manual states that the transfer cases is filled with this fluid "at the factory" and advises, "Use Toyota approved “Toyota Genuine Transfer Gear oil LF” or an equivalent of matching quality to satisfy the above specification
