My PH has always read between 8 and 8 5 more or less I tested today with my "cheap" meter and Hanna meter at the same time Cheap meter read 8 3 Hanna read 8 6 Calibrated the Hanna and it read 8 0 I figured either way it will work it will just be consitantly off? Or at least I'd hope

Next, I calibrated the YINMIK pH meter and now it agrees with the "inaccurate" one A cheap API test kit has my entire family agreeing that none of the colors really match up correctly At this point I'm a bit spun around and I don't know what to think A little research says some of these tools claim to be accurate by + - 4 What?!?!

How often do you guys calibrate pH probes? My Alkatronic suggests every 8 months, but the Hydros controller suggested every 3 It's been 90 days since I setup my hydros, so I calibrated both probes today and was surprised at how far the readings had drifted both were off by about 0 2-0 3

A higher ph can cause the chemical equation to move the opposite direction and negatively impact coral calcification This isn’t entirely supported I run my tank sps frag tank 8 4-8 8 The probe is calibrated quarterly In general it is a good guideline to follow, but it doesn’t cause “the chemical equation to move the opposite direction”

They are calibrating their response to the color of the water in the first vial, perhaps zeroing or taring out the meter before the test reagent is applied In contrast, pH meters may have an adjustment that can be made by comparing the pH meter reading against known standards and dialing in the reads to “calibrate” the probe and meter
