Hi All! I am working on a form on excel to allow a secretary to log hours into excel But instead of having her type in each name, I want her to be able to choose them from a list So for example, when you do Data>Forms, the category under "name", would be a drop down menu so you could pick a name, and enter the amount of hours worked

Re: Drop down list in table stop auto populating with new row I figured it out, some data validation was removed from cells in the table column, I selected the range again and reset the list validation and it fixed the issue

A drop down arrow will not stay visible in a data validation list unless it's the active cell You need to name your list range and insert a combo box if you need help with that, press F1 for help, and it'll get you started

Re: How to add blank to drop down list? Yes, and when you select "--" a blank appears in the cell Do you want to see an actual blank in the dropdown list? Instead of providing the list of values in the data validation dialog, create a range for the values, where the first one is blank Then use the address of that range for the data validation
