Hi guys! Trying to get into warhammer again since I was a kid around year 2000 I've been watching some videos trying to get back into the universe (always liked fantasy more than 40K), and it seems like the Warhammer Fantasy genre died or something and was relaunched as age of sigmar? I would say it is a good start for warhammer fantasy reading, you’re in the empire and you get a lot of dawi, chaos, vampire, skaven, and elf flavor mixed into the stories So you learn about other races and some of those characters I’ve recently started the Orion trilogy and have enjoyed it so far

Warhammer Fantasy is in many ways a reflection of actual history, the Empire is largely Germanic, Bretonnia is a weird fusion of medieval England and France, Ogres are mongolian-ish, etc It has a fixed geography, a proper timeline, and everything's nice and quasi-historical
