- X11 vs Wayland : r linuxquestions - Reddit
Wayland is much newer than X11 If Wayland can run on your system without extensive setup, then you should stick with it However some drivers have much less support for Wayland atm If you're using an NVIDIA gpu under NVIDIA's notorious proprietary driver, then you should use X11 Unless you don't want hardware acceleration, of course
- X11 VS Wayland, the actual difference : r linux - Reddit
IMHO, Wayland vs X11 is an implementation detail that should be abstracted away from the user Unless you use something that explicitly gives you control such as Arch Linux, it's your distro's task to transparently switch you over to Wayland when it's deemed ready on your combination of chosen DE and hardware setup - of course, unless you

- X11 or Wayland? : r kde - Reddit
A proper comparison would be X11 (37) <-> Wayland (13) and Xorg (17) <-> Plasma Wayland session (6) Because Wayland is newer, it was thought for modern computer usage Firefox got hardware video acceleration on Wayland way before the X11 version did The Night Color management in Plasma was a thing on the Wayland session before the X11 session
- Gaming on X11 vs XWayland : r linux_gaming - Reddit
X11 does worse if you have compositing on in KDE, is there something similar with sway or I3? I know WM vs DE but still I know when compositing is off Wayland SHOULD have higher latency then x11 in games But in my case, when I don't turn off compositing wayland ends up being better just because x11 is being gimped
- [Ubuntu 22. 04] Wayland vs Xorg X11? : r linuxquestions - Reddit
Now with U22, I have to be on Xorg X11 for Touchegg Touche to work because the daemon app isn't compatible with Wayland There's a couple other weird quirks I've noticed with Wayland Online, people are saying Wayland is better and X11 is outdated But I don't really see a difference lol
- How is Wayland better than X11? : r linuxmasterrace - Reddit
How is Wayland better than X11? That goes by the definition of "better" For example, from a security standpoint Wayland is much better than X X-based applications have almost no isolation from each other, meaning everyone can access everyone's internal data (e g reading and hijacking inputs), leaving any mitigations fully on the application's side
- Comparing Wayland and X11 Display Server Protocols in Full . . . - Reddit
All tested Wayland compositors have achieved a slightly better frame rate than the X11 ones This can be attributed to the simplified graphics stack in Wayland This is because the compositor is the display server: it allows for more efficient rendering and therefore better performance
- Wayland vs X11 - Linux - Level1Techs Forums
Imo its fair for wayland not to have that X11’s remote desktop feature is dog slow, so not even that much of an upside I run wayland on my notebook now and so far everything worked I know gparted is a thing that needs a workaround on wayland, but thats not because of missing features but rather because of tighter security constraints per
- X11 Vs Wayland : r linux - Reddit
The developers developing x11 got tired of its idiosyncrasies and made a new proximity with a different model All of them - no developer wants to touch X11 code unless they are getting paid (which Red Hat is paying for their developers, but they will stop soon) No one wants to work kn X11, so it is dying, slowly at first but now speeding up
