- Eaton posi perf. or truetrac which is better - Chevy Impala SS Forum
tru-trac is a gear-style limited slip axle It will never wear out The Eaton is a clutch-type unit; it will wear out And it sucks the day your Eaton-equipped rear axle starts spinning only one wheel That day will come With a tru-trac, you're set for life
- Poll:: Detroit Trutrac Vs Eaton Vs Auburn Posis? Which Is Better?
It all depends on what you want to do with the car If it is mostly a drag car that sees a little street use then the Detroit Locker is the way to go If it is a street strip car with mostly street use then the Eaton is best If it will be road raced or used for auto cross then the Truetrac is better
- Differential Options Explained - Currie Enterprises
Below are short, not-too-technical, overviews of some of the most frequently asked about differential options for Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, and Muscle Trucks Detroit Truetrac - Helical-gear limited-slip (worm differential) is the modern replacement for the classic clutch-type posi
- Help me decide on either an Eaton posi or Detroit Truetrac differential
Eaton Posi's have clutches that will wear out over time, but they are easily rebuilt A tight clutch diff still needs some friction modifier (which makes them slip easier) if you want them to have good manners, something which i always thought was a little counter-productive
- TRUETRAC vs POSI vs WAVETRAC - SVTPerformance. com
I assume by posi you mean the factory traction lock The factory traction lock is not a bad diff depending on your intentions but to be honest the trutrac is pretty affordable The wavetrac I've read is a great diff unless you have c-clips and is much more expensive than the trutrac

Gear-type limited slips (Truetrac and Torsen) are more consistent, but less adjustable If neither tire wants to spin it works pretty much like an open diff, giving the same torque to both tires
- Eaton Vs. Truetrac - S-10 Forum
The Eaton Posi is one of the best differentilas ever built It is far better than the Auburn The Eaton Posi uses clutches behind both axle gears and there are at least 4 different clutch sets that can be used to tune it for your needs
- Posi Vs. Truetrac - LS1
I know the basic structural difference between the two (Posi uses clutch packs Truetrac uses worm gears) From what I understand the Truetrac is more reliable and can handle more torque, but since I'll be road racing I also need a unit that'll behave under tight cornering conditions, so in that regard, do the two units have any differences?
- Eaton TrueTrac VS Stock Posi | Cummins Diesel Forum
Clutchpack types start off holding, and "break" free into progressive slipping This often causes "chatter" Helical types start off slipping, and progressively slip less But the traction they afford is similar You can also shim the preload springs in the carrier to tighten up the clutchpack posi
- Eaton Truetrac Posi - PY Online Forums - Bringing the Pontiac Hobby . . .
Do any of you guys have experience with the Eaton Truetrac posi vs the conventional clutch controlled units? Do they perform the same on launch and with equal control? Never run a Truetrac before but will have a chance to give it a try in about 5 weeks at a test and tune event
