- CPM S45VN thoughts after full year in the field. . .
Was CPM-20cv in the conversation? Looks like they were looking for better edge retention and corrosion resistance without sacrificing too much toughness; it doesn’t get more balanced than 20cv in that regard It takes a great working edge even at lower angles that’s pretty easily stropped back to slicey
- Should I buy Hinderer with CPM-20CV or CPM-S45VN
Hi folks, please help me with latest Hinderer batches and deciding which steel to take I have checked forums posts and there are mentions that CPM-20CV is kinda soft on XM 18 What about CPM-S45VN? Do you have any real experience?
- Questions about S45VN S35VN - BladeForums. com
S30V, S35VN, and S45VN are iterations of Chris Reeve's idea of an optimally balanced knife steel They're not all that different, but you can read an in-depth story about the steels that Larrin wrote on his site S30V was a benchmark for a long time
- CRK Magnacut vs S45 edge retention - BladeForums. com
For anyone that has used Chris Reeve Magnacut and S45vn which one has the best edge retention
- CRK MagnaCut vs S45VN - BladeForums. com
Is there a chance, given that CRK made a Larrin MC blade and was happy about the process, that CRK will skip over the S45VN and go for MC blades as soon as possible? That would be one heck of an evolution regarding blade steel for CRK What are your thoughs?
- What’s your S45VN experience been? - BladeForums. com
S45Vn in my use is very much like S30V, S35VN and the M390 variants like CTS 204P and CPM 20CV they all do better with a non polished edge Got carbides? well use them is me motto, keep the blade a bit toothy not all shiny Another knife I sent into Rob was my Buck 110 in S45VN with marble carbon fiber inlays and aluminum bolsters
- Recommended sharpening system technique for S45VN folders?
I've been overwhelmed by the huge selection of sharpening systems and still haven't pulled the trigger on any of them Presently my knives are all S45VN and I have a couple cheap 8cr13 blades to practice with I'm wondering as someone new to sharpening what would you recommend? What do you think of the above method?
- Hunter in new Crucible CPM-s45vn - BladeForums. com
This is my hunting knife for this year, in the new Crucible stainless steel alloy CPM-S45vn The gang at @nsm Niagara Specialty Metals were gracious enough to provide me with the material to make the first handmade knife out of it This one features a 3-3 4" blade of Crucible CPM-S45vn, with a
- CPM S45VN staining? - BladeForums. com
So I noticed on a satin finished CPM S45VN blade every time I would use it to cut food, say a tomato or cucumber etc afterwards where it passed through the food the steel would be slightly discolored in that area, even after washing If I oiled the whole blade and kinda rubbed the oil into it
- CRK S35vn or S45vn, worth the wait? - BladeForums. com
Won't the S45vn steel be harder to sharpen at 61 vs the 59 hardness of the S35vn? Is it my imagination or do supersteels feel more brittle compared to the more forgiving "give" of a normal steel?
