Every time someone posts about the surfline subscription I take the opportunity to hype it I use it in conjunction with windy and noaa data and have scored around the world on surf trips and strike missions I highly recommend the app because it took my surfing to another level, plus the cams are fun and useful and the content is good Is it perfect? No, but it serves it purpose The haters

So I’m trying to get better at forecasting conditions and reading surf reports I’ve been using Surfline frequently to check to forecast for various beaches in Japan and I noticed Surfline is wrong awfully often While it checks out for maybe 20-30% of the spots, the rest is all over the place To give you an example, Surfline reports a 14 2ft swell @ 13s resulting in 15-18 faces at one

Here is how I use the Surfline app to figure out where to go Step 1-getting to know the spot you want to visit The two most important items to take into account are swell direction and tide Swell direction is important since this is where geography comes in regarding the "exposure" of a spot to swells

exactly surfline is basically a streaming service and on the day of swell I can check wind conditions across multiple local spots via the cams Theyir forecasts are so insanely bad and innaccurate since they updated, at least for my area

So surfline originally bought msw and they operated by making money through the illusion of choice I thought it was because they knew that some people hate surfline and would prefer a different option

Also, keep in mind that Surfline’s algorithm for predicting wave height is inaccurate a lot of the time I find that it’s often pretty far off for Linda Mar, especially depending on what part of the beach you’re surfing

Surfline is owned by The Cherning Group (same group that owns Pandora Bar Stool Sports and many others) Do you know who owns the Cherning Group? Rupert Murdock and friends Do you realize what this means and that this has become? They are in board meetings pressing to maximize profits by stuffing new markets of surfers into lineups for profits
